Dr. Carol Ivory, Art Historian (Ph.D., University of Washington), Professor Emerita of Fine Arts, and retired from Washington State University. Dr. Ivory’s research focuses on the art, history, and culture of the Marquesas Islands and has taken her to nearly 80 museums worldwide. She has co-curated or consulted on numerous exhibitions on the Marquesas and French Polynesia at venues including Mission Houses Museum, Honolulu, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Seattle Art Museum. She is currently curating an exhibition on Marquesan art and culture for the Musee du quai Branly, Paris, scheduled to open April 2016. Her lectures and on-site talks focus on Polynesian prehistory and history/culture, tattoo and festivals in the Marquesas Islands.
